The use of the Freezing plate GFR-20-IOL For the production of perfectly round discs, this is no longer a necessity, as any use of pliers is avoided. Thinner discs can therefore be used, allowing for material savings thanks to a deep kernel gel and one easy reposition for the next step.
The GFR-20-IOL Freezing Mandrels are interchangeable to adapt to different manufacturing stages. In general, the chuck used for the first face is flat to match the surface of the raw disk, while the chucks for the second face are machined with a Mirror imprint of the lens profile.
Thanks to a Optional external centering device, the positioning of the machined disks can be easily done. Because the original «dead length» collet is used under the freezing device, switching to «conventional» manufacturing remains simple.

«Frost» This is an extremely powerful adhesive used in many micro-mechanical applications for fixing tiny parts, such as watch hands.
Thanks to this natural property, the AMCC Icing Plates use it as a clamping system, offering numerous advantages:
-
Rigid bond obtained with different materials such as PMMA, acrylics, silicone, etc.
-
Mechanical tightening without constraints.
-
Deep cooling improves the surface finish during cutting, especially for hydrophobic materials.
-
No solid residue after unlocking parts.
The AMCC GF plaques are cooled by a counter-flow heat exchanger(¹), thus requiring only compressed air(²) to operate.
The freezer plates are easy to use for manufacturing IOLs (intraocular lenses): simply spray water on the blanks, position the blank on the cooling mandrel; in a few seconds, the water freezes and machining can begin. Unlocking is even simpler by reversing the airflow from cooling to defrosting.
Originally developed for use in aerospace industry workshops, these freezing plates have been adopted in sectors manufacturing precision parts, particularly in the intraocular lens industry.
As indicated above, the AMCC freezing plates allow for significant productivity gains while improving IOL manufacturing quality.

Semi-automatic GF-GF
The semi-automatic GF-GF1 unit is designed for flipping IOLs between the machining of the first side and the machining of the second side. The reliability of the flipping system, combined with the GFR-MF-20-Iols polishing chucks, ensures extremely precise positioning between the two sides.
